About Us

Our Business

Singing Springs Botanicals is proud to offer handcrafted, 100% natural, organic and wild, artisan quality herbal products for your wellbeing. Each product is created by hand in small batches high in the San Juan mountains of southwestern Colorado. A deep love for nature in its wildest forms has kept founder and owner Julianne Peterson in these mountains and in the nearby desert canyons of the Colorado plateau. In these beloved wild places the body’s various systems are compromised by the harsh elements and an often strenuous lifestyle. To strengthen and sooth, to fortify and to ease the ailments that afflict the bodies of friends and family, Singing Springs Botanical remedies were created. These creations are all 100% plant based, and vegetarian friendly. Made strictly without the use of chemicals and artificial fragrances, they never contain synthetic or petroleum based ingredients. The herbs are in all cases certified organically grown or wildcrafted. When wildcrafted plants are used, they are harvested in an ecological, and sustainable manner from unpolluted areas in compliance with stringent wildcrafting ethics. The utmost care is used, as the sustainability of the herb populations is critical for future wellbeing. Wild and cultivated herbs are harvested at their peak of potency and fresh herbs are used when this is the preferable form. By selecting herbs of such superior quality powerful extracts are created that can be used with assurance of potency. All extracts are full spectrum, offering each plant’s complete array of constituents for your health, as nature intended. Finally, each product is carefully packaged in amber or cobalt glass, thus minimizing the use of plastic. This assures the longest possible shelf life by protecting the precious ingredients from deterioration by exposure to light and air and prevents any leaching of plastic compounds into the medicine.

In every way possible we at Singing Springs Botanicals are making the effort to serve you the customer on your path to wellbeing without compromising the wellbeing of our planet. When you receive your package of products you will notice that it may arrive in a recycled box and the contents may be wrapped in reused bubble wrap or paper. Thank you for supporting this effort, and the natural, organic and wild health care movement!

This movement is more important today than ever before. Pollinators, the best friends of the herbs and plants, are critical to their very existence and are seriously at risk and need our help. The over half-century of pesticide use for agriculture has taken a serious toll. If pollinators perish so will the wealth of botanical medicine of the planet. Plants are truly fascinating alchemists, converting the sacred elements of sunlight (fire), soil (earth), air and water into a multitude of medicines. We as humans cannot duplicate this miraculous work but can only pay attention and learn what plants have to offer us and extract and preserve this magic, and bottle it. What do we not owe to the plants? Our cotton, hemp or bamboo clothes, that comfort and shield us, our wooden homes and furniture, our meals and our medicines all gifts from them. All the plants ask for in return is respect and care. From this place of respect and gratitude is where natural, organic and wild comes in. Not because it is a selling technique or ‘all the rage’ but because it is the most simple and rewarding thing we can do to repay the natural world for all her bounty and gifts. So choose organic, the cost is nothing compared to the alternative. At Singing Springs Botanicals we feel it is our responsibility to choose ingredients that are in compliance with creating a healthier planet, and that it is our collective responsibility to chose such products wherever they are offered for the sustainability of the environment as well as for our personal health and wellbeing.

May there be an eternity of springs filled with song!

Sincerely, Julianne Peterson

Our Founder

Singing Springs Botanicals was founded by Julianne Peterson, Certified Herbalist and Ayurvedic Practitioner. Her passion for plants, organic gardening and herbal medicine led her to begin studying in 1995 as an apprentice for Great Mothers Goods (an herbal product company), in Durango, Colorado. Later she focused on the specifics of organic and sustainable, high altitude cultivation of medicinal plants at the Central Rocky Mountain Permaculture Institute in Basalt Colorado. She completed two years of intensive study at the Rocky Mountain Center for Botanical Studies (RMCBS) in Boulder, Colorado (now the Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism), graduating in 2002.  At RMCBS she learned from some of the country’s most accomplished herbalists including Paul Bergner, Feather Jones, Matthew Becker, Brigitte Mars, and Cascade Anderson Geller, and there was introduced to Ayurveda by Dr. Alakanada Ma and Candis Cantin. Her continued interest in Ayurveda eventually led Julie to New Mexico where she studied with Dr. Vasant Lad, at The Ayurvedic Institute, graduating in 2010. She further enhanced her knowledge of Ayurveda by continuing studies in India with various Ayurvedic doctors and pharmacists and graduated from the pharmacy program at Greens Ayur Center, Kerala, India in 2011. Formulating her own herbal remedies since early 2000, Julie’s love for this work lead her to found Singing Springs Botanicals in 2003.
